Shaq Featured in Stock Car Racing Magazine

Stock Car Racing Magazine I sent in an e-mail to Stock Car Racing magazine back in April asking them how to submit Shaq for the Shop Dog column. I never got an answer and for the next several months there were no Shop Dog columns so I thought they dropped the feature. Then one day in early July I was reading the August edition of Stock Car Racing and saw the number 23 at the bottom of the page. I said "Hey, that's my number". Then I said "HEY, THAT'S MY DOG"! Laura and I were very surprised. Not only that it was in the magazine but more so about what they wrote. The article text below the image is easier to read.

Darren Curtis drives a Pure Stock at Tri-City Raceway in West Richland, Washington. The '81 Toyota Celica not only looks good, but is fast enough to win. In the season opener, he took the trophy dash and the main event, adding a second in the preliminary heat as well.
Darren is driving for Black Dog Racing and this is how the team got its name: "I have owned a black dog for most of my life," he explains, "whether the dog was a Great Dane or a Lab. Most of my black dogs have been Labs since I like to hunt. My most recent dog is getting too old to hunt, but she is still a great family pet. Last year, instead of hunting, I started racing and started our family race team."
The black lab named Shaq apparently took to the sport with great zeal. Shaq likes the race car and has added her own personal touch (a paw print) to the car for luck. When Shaq can't actually ride in the car (rules, you know, they just don't allow animals during the races), there's a stuffed likeness that joins in on the fun.
You'll be seeing plenty of Shaq and the fleet Toyota, christened "The Best Looking Pure Stock Ever at Tri-City Raceway," on the team's webpage at http://www.BlackDogRacing.com.
